Amy Shark, Australia's sensational indie artist is bringing her signature sounds to the Brighton Music Hall!
Amy Shark (birth name Amy Billings) was born in 1986 in the Gold Coast (Queensland, Australia) and is a singer and songwriter. Her musical style is best described as a blend of indie rock (a genre of alternative rock that originated in the United States and the United Kingdom in the 1980s, encapsulating the genres chamber pop, indie pop, lo fi, math rock, neo psychedelia, post punk revival, sadcore, and shoegaze), indie electronic (a sub genre of alternative/indie rock with affinity for electronic music, using samplers, synthesizers, drum machines, and computer programs), and indie pop (a sub genre of alternative/indie rock originating in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s and differing from indie rock to the extent that it’s more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst free). Her breakthrough came in 2016 when one of her singles (Adore) was voted number 2 on Triple J's Hottest 100 (a countdown of the most popular songs of the year, as chosen by the listeners of Australian radio station Triple J). She's had a stellar career with 1 extended play (a #2 hit on the Australian Recording Industry Association chart), 4 singles, and a Queensland Music Award (for Pop Song of the Year)
