Do you like Brighton Music Hall?

Anathema, England’s sensational rock and metal artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Brighton Music Hall!

The band was formed (under the moniker Pagan Angel) in Liverpool (Merseyside, England) in 1990 by John Douglas, Darren White, and brothers Vincent, Daniel, and Jamie Cavanagh. Over the years, their musical style has spanned many genres such as death doom (an extreme subgenre of heavy metal that combines the slow tempos and pessimistic or depressive mood of doom metal with the deep growling vocals and double kick drumming of death metal), gothic metal (a fusion genre that combines the heaviness of heavy metal with the dark atmospheres of gothic rock), alternative rock, and progressive rock (a broad subgenre of rock music that grew out of psychedelic bands who abandoned standard traditions in favor of instrumentation and compositional techniques more frequently associated with jazz, folk or classical music). The band’s been through many line up changes and it currently consists of Vincent (rhythm and acoustic guitars, keyboards, programming, lead vocals), Daniel (lead guitar, keyboards, piano, lead and backing vocals), Jamie (bass), John (drums, percussion, keyboards), Lee Douglas (lead vocals), and Daniel Cardoso (keyboards, drums). They’ve had a stellar career with 10 studio albums and their latest one (The Optimist) comes out in June 2017.

Don’t miss your chance to see the artists who were heralded as leading exponents of death metal-influenced heavy rock from the 90s!
