Anna Meredith, England's sensational electronica artist is bringing her signature sounds to the Brighton Music Hall!
Anna Meredith was born in Tufnell Park (North London, England) in 1978 and is a composer. While her musical style can be broadly classified as electronica (an umbrella term that encompasses a broad group of electronic based styles such as techno, house, ambient, drum and bass, jungle, and industrial dance, among others), it's best described as a blend of progressive electronic, art pop, progressive pop, modern classical, indietronica, indie pop, post-minimalism, art rock, indie rock, progressive rock, electronic rock, and electropop. Her breakthrough came with her 2016 debut studio album receiving widespread critical acclaim and winning the 2016 Scottish Album of the Year Award. Online music magazine Pitchfork gave the album its 'Best New Music' label and wrote, "[Anna Meredith's] first wholly independent project reveals her to be one of the most innovative minds in modern British music: She wears her obvious theoretical grounding lightly and never lets it obstruct her ecstatic quest for new ideas and deranged stimuli. And Varmints is a knockout, the kind that makes you see cartoon stars." She's had a stellar career with 1 studio album, 2 extended plays, and she's the former composer-in-residence with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. She's also won the 2010 Paul Hamlyn Foundation Award for Composers.
