Anthony B, Jamaica's sensational reggae artist is bringing his signature sounds to the Brighton Music Hall!
Anthony B (birth name Keith Blair) was born in Trelawny Parish (Jamaica) in 1976 and is a DJ and vocalist. He began his musical journey by singing in church and school choirs and he cites Bob Marley and Peter Tosh as some of his biggest influences. He started DJing in high school and he went on to create a musical style that's best described as a blend of reggae (while sometimes used in a broad sense to refer to most types of popular Jamaican dance music, the term reggae more properly denotes a particular music style that was strongly influenced by traditional mento as well as American jazz and rhythm and blues, and evolved out of the earlier genres ska and rocksteady), dancehall (an uptempo style of dance music derived from reggae, in which a DJ improvises lyrics over a recorded backing track or to the accompaniment of live musicians), and ragga (a subgenre of dancehall and reggae in which the instrumentation primarily consists of electronic music). He's had a stellar career with 29 studio albums, 1 live album, and 1 tribute album (featuring cover versions of songs by many renowned artists including Bob Marley, The Maytals, John Lennon, Ray Charles, Elvis Presley, and Ini Kamoze).
