Astrid S (birth name Astrid Smeplass) was born in Rennebu (Norway) in 1996 and is a singer, songwriter, pianist, and guitarist. Her musical style is best described as a blend of pop, R&B, electronic, and tropical house (a subgenre of deep house music, with elements of dancehall and Balearic house, and usually featuring tropical instruments such as steel drums, marimba, guitar, saxophone or even pan flute). She’s had a stellar career with 1 extended play, 10 singles, 2 cover songs, and she’s collaborated with Matoma, Shawn Mendes, iSHi, Avicii, CLMD, The Vamps, and Blonde. She’s also been the supporting act for Troye Sivan on his Suburbia and Blue Neighborhood Tours. She’s received many accolades including a MTV Europe Music Award (for Best Norwegian Act), 2 P3 Gull Awards (for Årets Nykommer - Newcomer of the Year and Årets Låt - Song of the Year), and 2 Spellemannprisen Awards (for Årets Nykommer - Newcomer of the Year and Gramostipend - Gramo scholarship). She’s also been nominated for another MTV Europe Music Award (for Best Norwegian Act) and a Spellemannprisen Award (for Årets Låt - Song of the Year). Her latest extended play (Party's Over) comes out on 20th June 2017.
