Cuco, California's sensational multi genre artist is bringing his signature sounds to the Brighton Music Hall!
Cuco (birth name Omar Banos) was born in Hawthorne (Los Angeles) in 1998 and is a singer, songwriter, and music producer. He began his musical journey at the age of 8 by learning to play the guitar and it wasn't long before he was playing the keys, drums, bass, French horn, and trumpet. His musical style is best described as a blend of lo-fi synthesizers, horns, hip hop abstraction, and it's heavily influenced by the music he was exposed to during his early years. He said in an interview, "In Hawthorne, there are a lot of Latinos and it was very diverse so seeing all these cultures and listening to all these different types of music that existed amongst all of us, the different time periods, and the different influences—it all just kind of came together into what my sound is. I would always hear music in my head that I had never heard before, and I just wanted to make them happen. I just always wanted to be the artist that I wanted to hear." He also cites Kevin Parker (from Tame Impala), Louis Armstrong, Mild High Club, Kali Uchis, Flatbush Zombies, Kendrick Lamar, Thundercat, and Ariel Pink as his influences. He's released 2 mix tapes and he's currently working on his debut album.
