Cults, New York's sensational indie artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Brighton Music Hall!
Cults was formed in Manhattan in 2010 and is duo consisting of Madeline Follin (vocals) and Brian Oblivion (vocals, guitar, and percussion). Their musical style is best described as a blend of indie rock (a genre of alternative rock that originated in the United States and the United Kingdom in the 1980s, encapsulating the genres chamber pop, indie pop, lo fi, math rock, neo psychedelia, post punk revival, sadcore, and shoegaze), indie pop (a subgenre of alternative/indie rock originating in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s and differing from indie rock to the extent that it’s more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst free), and synth pop (a subgenre of new wave music that rose to prominence in the late 1970s and features the synthesizer as the dominant musical instrument). Their breakthrough came when one of the songs (titled Go Outside) they posted on their Bandcamp page was critically acclaimed by many music outlets including Pitchfork and NME. They've had a stellar career with 2 studio albums, 1 extended play, and their latest album (titled Offering) comes out on 6th October 2017. When performing live, Madeline and Brian are joined by Gabriel Rodriguez (aux and guitar), Cory Stier (drums), Max Kamins (bass guitar), Marc Deriso (drums), and Loren Humphrey (drums).
Don't miss your chance to see these artists add a unique touch to indie rock, indie pop, and synth pop music!
