His musical style is best described as a blend of contemporary R&B (a genre that combines elements of rhythm and blues, soul, funk, pop, hip hop, and dance), adult contemporary R&B, (a form of post soul R&B - based on the more refined strains of '70s soul, such as smooth soul, Philly soul, and quiet storm - that places equal emphasis on songcraft and sophistication), alternative R&B, and soul. It also includes elements of contains hints electronica and pop and he cites Prince, Chaka Khan, Radiohead, Maxwell, Sade, Joni Mitchell, Imogen Heap, and George Michael as his main influences. He's had a stellar career with 2 studio albums (both of which were top 10 hits on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart), 3 extended plays, 8 singles, and he's collaborated with many renowned artists such as Gorillaz, Marsha Ambrosius, Jill Scott, Wretch 32, Nelly, and Vince Staples.
