Deerhoof, California's sensational indie rock and noise pop artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Brighton Music Hall!
Deerhoof started off in San Francisco in 1994 as duo consisting of guitarist Rob Fisk and drummer Greg Saunier. A year later, they recruited vocalist Satomi Matsuzaki to complete the line up and started touring. The band's been through many line up changes over the years and it currently consists of Greg (drums and vocals), Satomi (vocals and bass), John Dieterich (guitar), and Ed Rodríguez (guitar). Their musical style is best described as a blend of indie rock (a genre of alternative rock that originated in the United States and the United Kingdom in the 1980s, encapsulating the genres chamber pop, indie pop, lo fi, math rock, neo psychedelia, post punk revival, sadcore, and shoegaze), noise pop (a subgenre of alternative rock - developed in the mid 1980s in the UK and US - that mixes dissonant noise or feedback, or both, with the melodic instrumentation and production elements more often found in pop music, making it more melodic than noise rock), and post rock (a form of experimental rock characterized by the influence and use of instruments commonly associated with rock music, but using rhythms not traditionally found in it). They've had a stellar career with 17 studio albums.
