Diet Cig, New York’s sensational pop punk artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Brighton Music Hall!
Diet Cig was formed in New Paltz (New York) and is a duo consisting of Alex Luciano (guitar and vocals) and Noah Bowman (drums). They first met in 2014 at a house party where Noah’s old band (Earl Boykins) was playing. It wasn’t long before they were making music together and they released their debut extended play (Over Easy) in August of that year. While their musical style can be broadly classified as pop punk (a fusion genre that typically combines fast punk rock tempos, power chord changes and loud, distorted electric guitars with pop influenced melodies and lyrical themes), it also includes elements of punk rock (a rock music genre - developed in the early to mid-1970s in the United States – that typically uses short or fast paced songs, with hard edged melodies and singing styles, stripped-down instrumentation, and often political, anti establishment lyrics), and indie pop (a subgenre of alternative/indie rock originating in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s and differing from indie rock to the extent that it’s more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst free). They got a record deal in 2015 and their debut studio album (Swear I'm Good At This) comes out in April 2017.
