Gorguts, Canada’s sensational technical death metal artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Brighton Music Hall!

Gorguts was formed in Sherbrooke (Quebec) in 1989 by Luc Lemay (vocals and guitar), Sylvain Marcoux (guitar), Éric Giguère (bass guitar) and Stephane Provencher (drums). They released a demo tape in 1990 and it wasn’t long before they got a record deal. The band’s been through many line up changes over the years and it currently consists of Luc, Kevin Hufnagel (guitar), Colin Marston (bass guitar), Patrice Hamelin (drums).Their musical style is best described as a blend of avant garde metal (a subgenre of heavy metal music - influenced by progressive rock and extreme metal, particularly death metal, and closely related to progressive metal - loosely defined by use of experimentation and innovative, avant-garde elements, including non-standard and unconventional sounds, instruments, song structures, playing styles, and vocal techniques) and technical death metal (a subgenre of death metal that focuses on complex rhythms, riffs and song structures). They’re widely regarded as one of the pioneers in the use of dissonance and atonality in metal and many bands such as Ulcerate, Spawn of Possession, Obscura, Beyond Creation, cite Gorguts as a major influence. They’ve had a stellar career with 5 studio albums, 1 live album, 1 compilation album, 1 extended play, and 1 demo tape.

Don’t miss your chance to see the artists widely regarded as one of the most advanced, experimental, and challenging groups in technical death metal!
