Higher Brothers, China's sensational hip hop and trap artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Brighton Music Hall!

The Higher Brothers was formed in Chengdu (Sichuan, China) in 2016 by MaSiWei (also known as OG Skippy), DZknow (also known as KnowKnow or simply DZ), Psy.P, and Melo. Their musical style is best described as a blend of hip hop and trap (a sub genre of Southern hip hop that originated in the 1990s and is characterized by ominous lyrics, heavy kick drums from a Roland TR 808 synthesizer, double time division hi hats, and layered synthesizers). They cite 50 Cent, A$AP Rocky, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole and Migos as their main influences. They rap mostly in Sichuanese Mandarin but their style also includes the Chengdu dialect and at times, English. Masiwei said in an interview, "I use the dialect as a tool when I write verses. If I want to achieve a certain flow, I can use Chengdu dialect in one sentence, then English in the next and then standard Mandarin." They're part of a much larger Sichuan based rap collective called Chengdu Rap House (also known as CDC) and they've released 1 mix tape and 1 studio album. Their YouTube videos have over 10 million views and they've also performed at the PAC HouTou GO hip hop festival in Chengdu.

Don’t miss your chance to see these artists add a unique touch to hip hop and trap music!
