Lauv, California's sensational electronic and R&B artist is bringing his signature sounds to the Brighton Music Hall!
Lauv (birth name Ari Staprans Leff) was born in San Francisco in 1994 and is a singer and guitarist. He began his musical journey at an early age by learning to play the piano and the viola. It wasn't long before he was also playing the guitar and at 14, he started to write love/breakup songs despite never having been in a relationship. He went on to create a musical style that's best described as a blend of contemporary R&B (a genre that combines elements of rhythm and blues, soul, funk, pop, hip hop, and dance), downtempo (genre of electronic music similar to ambient, but with a greater emphasis on rhythm, and is not as earthy as trip hop), house (an electronic music style that began in Chicago in the early 80, characterized by repetitive 4/4 beats, rhythms mainly provided by drum machines, off-beat hi hat cymbals, and synthesized basslines), and progressive house (a subgenre of house music developed in the United Kingdom as a natural progression of American and European house music of the late 1980s). He's had a stellar career with 2 extended plays, 5 singles, and he's written songs for Demi Lovato, Cash Cash, Charli XCX, and many other renowned artists.
