Matt Pond PA, Pennsylvania's sensational indie rock artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Brighton Music Hall!
The band was formed in Philadelphia in 1998 by singer and songwriter Matt Pond. He recruited guitarist/bassist Josh Kramer, cellist Jim Hostetter, violinist Rosie McNamara-Jones, and drummer Sean Byrne to complete the line up and they released their debut studio album shortly thereafter. The band's been through many line up changes over the years and it currently consists of Matt (vocals and guitar), Chris Hansen (guitar and vocals), and Shawn Alpay (cello). Their musical style is best described as a blend of indie rock (a genre of alternative rock that originated in the United States and the United Kingdom in the 1980s, encapsulating the genres chamber pop, indie pop, lo fi, math rock, neo psychedelia, post punk revival, sadcore, and shoegaze), indie pop (a subgenre of alternative/indie rock originating in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s and differing from indie rock to the extent that it’s more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst free), and chamber pop (a subgenre of indie rock that developed in the mid 1990s as a reaction against the fuzz distortion and lo fi aesthetic prominent in alternative music). They've had a stellar career with 12 studio albums, 13 extended plays, and 11 singles.
Don’t miss your chance to see these artists add a unique touch to indie rock music!
