Moonchild, California’s sensational soul, jazz, and electronic artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Brighton Music Hall!
The band was formed in Los Angeles in 2012 and is a trio consisting of Amber Navran (instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, and composer), Max Bryk, and Andris Mattson. They met while studying at the University of Southern California (Jazz Program) and they went on to create musical style that’s best described as a blend of neo soul (a style of music that emerged from soul and contemporary R&B but is distinguished by a less conventional sound and the presence of many other genres ranging from jazz, funk, and hip hop to pop, fusion, and African music), jazz, and electronic. They cite D’Angelo, Hiatus Kaiyote, and J. Most as their main influences and they’ve made a name for themselves by honing dreamlike and ethereal compositions which explore the intricacies of relationships with emotional nuance. They’ve had a stellar career with 3 studio albums and they’ve been the opening act for pened for Stevie Wonder, Jose James, and Georgia Anne Muldrow. Their music’s been highly praised by many renowned artists including Jill Scott, Chris Dave, Robert Glasper, Tyler the Creator, DJ Jazzy Jeff, 9th Wonder, and James Poyser. Their latest album (Voyager) comes out on May 26th 2017.
