Nightmares on Wax, City's sensational electronic artist is bringing his signature sounds to the Brighton Music Hall!
Nightmares on Wax (birth name George Evelyn) is a DJ and composer from Leeds (West Yorkshire, England). While his musical style can be broadly classified as electronic, it's best described as a blend of funk (a genre that originated in the mid 1960s when African American musicians created a rhythmic, danceable new form of music through a mixture of soul music, jazz, and rhythm and blues), hip hop, acid house (a sub genre of house music - developed around the mid 1980s by DJs from Chicago - defined primarily by the deep basslines and 'squelching' sounds of the Roland TB 303 electronic synthesizer sequencer), down tempo (genre of electronic music similar to ambient, but with a greater emphasis on rhythm, and is not as earthy as trip hop), and trip hop (a sub genre of electronic music that originated in the early 1990s in the United Kingdom, as an experimental variant of breakbeat). He's had a stellar career with 8 studio albums, 1 compilation album, 4 extended plays, 4 mix tapes, 17 singles, and he's collaborated with Andrew Ashong, Wolfgang Haffner, Acid Mondays, Mike Paradinas, Luke Vibert, Spacer, and many others.
