Overcoats, New York's sensational indie artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Brighton Music Hall!
Overcoats is a New York based duo consisting of singers and songwriters Hana Rose Elion and JJ Mitchell. Their musical style is best described as a blend of indie rock (a genre of alternative rock that originated in the United States and the United Kingdom in the 1980s, encapsulating the genres chamber pop, indie pop, lo fi, math rock, neo psychedelia, post punk revival, sadcore, and shoegaze), indie pop (a subgenre of alternative/indie rock originating in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s and differing from indie rock to the extent that it’s more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst free), and indie electronic (a subgenre of alternative/indie rock with affinity for electronic music, using samplers, synthesizers, drum machines, and computer programs). It also draws from other genres such as folk and bluegrass (a genre that takes roots from Irish, Scottish and English traditional music, and was also later influenced by the music of African Americans through incorporation of jazz elements) and they describe their work as "soulful, folk-tronic tunes." They've had a stellar career with 1 extended play, 1 studio album, and they've been the opening act for fellow indie artists SOAK, Maggie Rogers, and Tennis.
Don't miss your chance to see these artists add a unique touch to indie rock, indie pop, and indie electronic music!
