Pinback, California’s sensational indie pop artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Brighton Music Hall!
Pinback was formed in San Diego in 1998 by singers, songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Armistead Burwell Smith IV and Rob Crow. The band is named after a character in Dark Star; a 1974 American science fiction comedy film directed by John Carpenter and co-written with Dan O'Bannon. It’s been through many line up changes over the years and it currently consists of Rob (vocals and guitar), Armistead (vocals and bass), and Chris Prescott (drums). Their musical style is best described as a blend of indie pop (a subgenre of alternative/indie rock originating in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s and differing from indie rock to the extent that it’s more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst free), electronic rock, and progressive rock (a broad subgenre of rock music that grew out of psychedelic bands who abandoned standard traditions in favour of instrumentation and compositional techniques more frequently associated with jazz, folk or classical music). They’ve had a stellar career with 5 studio albums, 2 compilation albums, 8 live albums, 2 extended plays, and 8 singles. Their music has also been featured in the TV shows The O.C., Yo Gabba Gabba!, and How I Met Your Mother.
Don't miss your chance to see the artists add a unique touch to indie pop, electronic rock, and progressive rock music!
