Porches, New York's sensational synth pop artist is bringing his signature sounds to the Brighton Music Hall!
Porches started off in Pleasantville (New York) in 2010 as the solo project of singer and songwriter Aaron Maine. He was inspired to make make music after listening to indie rock legends, the Strokes. He said in an interview, "That was kind of huge for me. It seemed kind of simple it on the surface and doable and really cool and special. So the first few bands I was in I feel like we just wanted to sound like the Strokes, probably like most bands that started around that time." He went on to create a musical style that's best described as a blend of synth pop (a sub genre of new wave music that rose to prominence in the late 1970s and features the synthesizer as the dominant musical instrument), indie rock, electronic, dream pop (a sub genre of alternative rock and neo psychedelia characterized by breathy vocals, introspective or existential lyrics, and a focus on textures and moods rather than propulsive rock riffs), and post punk (a broad type of rock music that emerged from the punk movement of the 1970s, in which artists departed from the traditional garage rock template of punk to pursue a variety of avant garde sensibilities). He's had a stellar career with 3 studio albums, 4 extended plays, and 5 singles.
