The Contortionist, Indiana's sensational progressive metal artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Brighton Music Hall!
The Contortionist was formed in Indianapolis in 2007 by vocalist Jake Morris, guitarists Robby Bacca and Cameron Maynard, bassist Cameron Maynard, and drummer Joey Bacca. The band's been through a few line up changes over the years and it currently consists of Joey (drums and percussion), Robby (guitar), Cameron (guitar), Michael Lessard (vocals), Jordan Eberhardt (bass), Eric Guenther (keyboards), and touring member Robert Brown (sound engineer). Their musical style is best described as a blend of progressive metal (a fusion of heavy metal and progressive rock that combines the loud aggression and amplified guitar driven sound of the former with the more experimental, cerebral or pseudo classical compositions of the latter) and avant garde metal (a subgenre of heavy metal music - influenced by progressive rock and extreme metal, particularly death metal, and closely related to progressive metal - loosely defined by use of experimentation and innovative, avant-garde elements, including non-standard and unconventional sounds, instruments, song structures, playing styles, and vocal techniques). They've had a stellar career with 4 studio albums, 5 extended plays, 6 singles, and 10 music videos. They've toured with Hatebreed, Born of Osiris, The Acacia Strain, Periphery, War of Ages, and many other renowned bands.
