The Movement, South Carolina's sensational reggae artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Brighton Music Hall!
The Movement was formed in Columbia (South Carolina) in 2003 by Josh Swain and Jordan Miller. They recruited Jon Ruff (also known as DJ Riggles) to complete the line up and the trio went to work on their debut album. Their musical style is best described as a blend of reggae (while sometimes used in a broad sense to refer to most types of popular Jamaican dance music, the term reggae more properly denotes a particular music style that was strongly influenced by traditional mento as well as American jazz and rhythm and blues, and evolved out of the earlier genres ska and rocksteady), reggae rock (a sub genre of reggae fusion and rock music that primarily uses the genres reggae, rock, and ska), and hip hop. The band's been through a few line up changes over the years and it currently consists of Josh (guitar, lead vocals, and backing vocals), Jay Schmidt (bass guitar), Gary Jackson (drums), and Ross Bogan (keys). They've had a stellar career with 6 studio albums, 8 singles, 1 live album, and their music has also been featured on the compilation albums The Pier Compilation, Amplified: An Acoustic Collective, Music Unites - Reggae Around the World, and General Hydroponics.
Don’t miss your chance to see these artists add a unique touch to reggae, reggae rock, and hip hop music!
