Warpaint

6th September 2017 - Wednesday 20:00

Warpaint, California’s sensational indie rock artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Brighton Music Hall!

The band was formed in Los Angeles in 2004 by childhood friends Emily Kokal and Theresa Wayman. They recruited Jenny Lee Lindberg and Shannyn Sossamon to complete the line-up and honed their craft for 3 years by playing locally. They self-released their debut EP (Exquisite Corpse) in 2008 and it was mixed and mastered by former Red Hot Chili Peppers’ guitarist John Frusciante (who was Emily’s boyfriend at the time). One of the EP’s tracks (Elephants) was used in the 2011 independent horror film Siren. The band’s been through a few line-up changes since then and currently consists of Emily (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Theresa (vocals, synthesizer, guitar, drums), Jenny Lee (bass, vocals), and Stella Mozgawa (drums, guitar, keyboards, vocals). Their musical style draws parallels with Cocteau Twins, Joni Mitchell, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and they cite Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, and Public Image Ltd as some of their influences. They’ve had a stellar career with 2 studio albums, 3 EPs, 11 singles, 7 music videos, and they’ve performed at renowned music festivals such as Bonnaroo, Glastonbury Festival, Reading and Leeds Festivals, Coachella, Electric Picnic, and many more. Their latest album (Heads Up) comes out on 23rd September 2016.

Don’t miss your chance to see these indie rock artists with influences from shoegaze, dream pop, and icy post punk!
