Yonder Mountain String Band, Colorado's sensational progressive bluegrass and country artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Brighton Music Hall!

Yonder Mountain String Band was formed in Nederland (Colorado) in 1998 by banjo player Dave Johnston, bassist Ben Kaufmann, guitarist Adam Aijala, and Jeff Austin on the mandolin. The band’s been through a few line up changes since then and it currently consists of Ben Kaufmann (bass, vocals), Dave Johnston (banjo, vocals), Adam Aijala (guitar, vocals), Allie Kral (fiddle, vocals), and Jake Joliff (mandolin, vocals). Their musical style is best described as a blend of progressive bluegrass (a subgenre of bluegrass that expands its sonic palette either by adding elements of jazz, folk, country, and rock, or by amplifying the instruments) and country. They’ve had a stellar career with 12 studio albums and 7 of them were top 10 hits on Billboard’s Top Bluegrass Albums chart.Their cover of the Beatles’ song Think for Yourself was included on the album This Bird Has Flown – A 40th Anniversary Tribute to the Beatles' Rubber Soul and they’ve also performed at the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver. In 2010, the band hosted a music festival at Mulberry Mountain in Ozark, Arkansas (called Yonder Mountain's Harvest Festival) and it featured renowned bands such as Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, the Simcha Aknin Band, Railroad Earth, and the Emmitt-Nershi Band.
